I received a phone call during one of my sessions today and it had to be one of the weirdest ones. A girl called to inquire about wedding photography and had one question to ask me: “How many megapixels is your camera ?”
That’s a weird first question, so I answered her.
For those who are curious, I shoot mostly with my Canon 5D…12.89 megapixels. On occasion, I’ll use a 1Ds Mark II, which is 16.7 megapixels, but who cares, really. Look at the Canon Powershot 950 DS IS…it comes in at 12.1 megapixels, so pretty darn close to the professional D-SLRs right ? Not even close. The camera is probably only 10% of importance when creating or capturing an image. The other 90% of it is the photographer’s skill.
I think it was just another photographer probing around. I’m totally cool with it if it was. Just keep it real, ya know ?
But if it wasn’t another photographer and a real future bride, she should ask herself, “Do I love his/her images ?”. If the answer is yes, then the hard part is over. The next step is to book a consultation to see if you and your photographer are right for each other.
