Meet Lynda, the ultra-chic Asian beauty….and Cosma, the soft-spoken, sweat Romanian man of uniform who can crush your head with his palms. We spent some time together back in September for their engagement session. It was probably our 5th attempt at getting together thanks to the weather, sickness and conflicts in schedules. I was dying to see them !
I’ve known Lynda for over 10 years ! We use to walk the runways together back in the day and met in University. She’s one of the sweetest and funniest girls you’ll ever meet. As with most University friendships, everyone kinda goes their separate ways for work or back home. Lynda lived in London and I started working in Toronto. But thanks to the internet, we kept in touch through Asian Avenue, Friendster, and of course, Facebook.
It wasn’t until a few years ago that I discovered something about Lynda that I didn’t know. Not only is she beautiful and smart, but she can SING ! WOW ! You can hear her voice here on her bands MySpace site. Totally not the genre that I would expect her to be singing ! Girl, you are what people call a triple threat !
I remember getting a note in my in-box back in May 2008 saying that she was gonna give herself 2 years to be proposed to. Why it hadn’t happened yet is beyond me, but I’m guessing she’s really picky…as she should be. Settling is not an option. And then it happened. Cosma proposed to her on top of a hill looking over the Toronto skyline. I was stoked to hear the news and there was no way I was going to have anyone else photograph her wedding.
At the end of September, we headed over to Brickworks for a relaxed session – the site where Cosma proposed to Lynda.
It’s been years since I’ve been there and I never thought I’d photograph an engagement there. Last time I was there, it just looked rundown, dirty and had squatters everywhere. But now the government has stepped in and pumped some money into restoring it and preserve the natural habitat around it. Once you get past the buildings, it’s quite refreshing and beautiful.
I had a blast with these two ! We walked around a bit during the ‘golden hour’ and spent some time catching up…and here are some of my faves…

Cosma’s a real cool guy. When he’s not smiling, he might look like he’s going to kick your ass, but this guy, as I found out, is really like sweet and stuff. And it makes me really thrilled to see how happy Lynda is with him. I’ve never seen her like this before haha It’s awesome ! I mentioned earlier that he’s a man of uniform. He’s on the Toronto Police Force. He works in the division that is handling the recent case of the missing Toronto teen, Mariam. We kinda talked about that and how crazy the search was and all the whacky psychics that would call in saying they know her wherabouts are because they had a dream or premonition. Sadly, she is still missing.

I don’t know what it is with guys, but most of them don’t like to smile…with teeth ! Cosma was no exception. But he did shine those pearly whites for me a few times that day. Thanks bro !

Was it totally coincidence that they were setting up for a party that night and they were having a band ??? We just couldn’t resist. Too bad the mic wasn’t on, otherwise she would have belted out a tune for all to enjoy.

I couldn’t have asked for more beautiful weather and a more smokin’ couple that day.
Soon after they secured me, it was time to choose a venue. It came down to the Park Hyatt or Graydon Hall. I thought Graydon Hall would be a perfect venue for them so I sent them over to my colleague Nicole Pieckenhagen – founder and Managing Director at Graydon Hall. They met up with Bryn, checked it out, and ended up falling in love with it. Be sure to visit the blog near the end of June for a peak into their amazing and beautiful wedding.
Can’t wait !!!
