This past Friday, some of the team (Heidi, Therese, Wil) and I covered one of the biggest fundraisers this year — The Oceana Ball ! Pretty much the who’s who in Toronto was there. It was a huge success with all monies raised donated to the Herbie Fund.
The Chair of the event was Brittney Kuczynski. Remember this name. This 21-year old beauty is going to be a future leader, I guarantee it. Don’t even ask what I was doing at 21. Definitely not heading a fundraiser of this magnitude. My wonderful friend Jackie Gideon was the co-Chair of the event. If you’re in the industry, you know Jackie. She is an award-winning editorial and bridal make-up artist and just one of the sweetest people you will ever meet. Congratulations to Brittney and Jackie on the huge success of this event. It was more than a pleasure to document it all.
Team JW, along with everyone else involved with the success of the Ball, volunteered their time and energy for the cause. Two of my very close friends, who are no strangers in the wedding industry and charitable events, also contributed to the event: Luxury Event and Wedding Stylist, Cindy Johnson of Platinum Events Group, and Designers Tamara Mutter and Kevin Slagter of Fuscia Designs.
There were beautiful performances by many talented artists. On hand were dancers Erica Publow, Heather Ogden & Guillaume Cote, and two time Juno award winner, Sonia Collymoore.

12 of Canada’s top fashion designers such as Wayne Clark, Joe Fresh, Andy The-Anh, David Dixon came together to design a piece of clothing that was auctioned off that evening . Gorgeous pieces ! Beside the pieces were beautiful images created by some of the best fashion photographers in Canada.

Probably one of my most memorable moments that evening was seeing Herbie Child, Mouhinder, who is from Trinidad, I believe. He wanted to come up to the mic to say a few words. He says, “Thank you. I love you all !”. Then he burst into a huge smile, blew a kiss, and I swear he was doing some fist-pumps ! What a cute kid.
