I hope you all had a great weekend. Well, let me tell you about mine
What a way to start my Saturday ! I got THE call at 1:43 AM Saturday morning from Sheila and Johann. As I stared at my phone number, I was thinking to myself, “Hmmm…this can’t be…the baby isn’t due until the 30th !”. They told me that they were admitted at Mt. Sinai Hospital. I was just about to go to bed after working on a few album designs all night. I was looking sooooo forward to catching some Zzzzzz’s. But once I got the call, sleeping was put on the back burner. There’s a baby on the way !
It was so funny because I met up with Sheila and Johann last week to install their baby seat for them. They mentioned that the baby ‘dropped’, so Jeanette and I were thinking it could happen pretty soon…definitely earlier than the due date.
By 1:50AM, I had my ‘Birth Camera Bag’, which consists of a fully charged camera body and a few lenses, and was ready to go. I jumped into the car and ripped down the 407/404/DVP to the hospital. I was so pumped up ! My heart was beating pretty fast. Sheila was progressing quite quickly and I was hoping the baby was not going to pop out before I got there.
Well, to keep a long story short — I MADE IT ! And here are some photos to fill you in on this amazing birth…
Look at the intensity of Johann’s eyes. He was doing an amazing job supporting Sheila through the labor. Or was that fear in his eyes ? haha :p
And he has arrived. Johann cuts the cord — an amazing moment for a new dad.

I dropped by the hospital tonight to check up on them. Mommy and baby are doing fine. They will be out of the hospital tomorrow. And then they are on their own ! It’s time to do that parenting thing ! Good thing Sheila is a Nurse.
Congratulations again to Sheila and Johann on the arrival of their baby boy, James — born April 18, 2009 at 5:20AM weighing in at 6 lbs 4 oz. I’m looking forward to watching him grow up and documenting every milestone in his life…
