I just got home not too long ago from celebrating with Kristen and Geoff at their wedding at the Ancaster Old Mill.
There was about 90 people in attendance and it was a beautiful, intimate wedding. I was talking to a lovely friend of the family sitting at our table about Kristen and Geoff. These two have an undeniable chemistry between them and their intimate wedding reminded me that weddings are a celebration of a couples love for each other…it’s not always about the ‘show’ and huge productions (those are nice too though hehe), but every person that was invited to the wedding actually knew Kristen and Geoff on a personal level. Not just random friends of friends of the family, etc…
I met Kristen and Geoff through my mentor, Eduardo. Eduardo actually photographed one of her best friends’ wedding in Scotland and he couldn’t photograph Kristen and Geoff’s wedding because he was already booked. So, he referred them to me. And I’m very thankful that he did, otherwise, I would never have met these two kids.
I want to share one moment I had with Kristen was before the ceremony. She asked me, “So, do you prefer me to call you Joe or Joee.”. I replied, “My friends call me Joee.”. She says, “Ok, I’m going to call you Joee…” Mission accomplished ! One of my ultimate goals is for my couples to look at me as a friend by the time the wedding comes around, not just a vendor. I consider myself a friend with benefits
…not those kind of benefits, but the friend who is always there to capture all those special moments in your life.
On a sad note, Kristen and Geoff are the last of their friends to get married. It’s sad because they have really good looking friends and I didn’t get a chance to photograph their weddings !!!
