08.08.08 – Dee+Ulyssis

On Friday, Dee+Uly tied the knot.   8/8/8 is probably the luckiest day of the year.  Half way around the world, over 30,000 fireworks were set off to mark their special day

The number eight is believed to bring happiness and fortune in Chinese culture.  Funny enough, they aren’t even Chinese… maybe they chose the date because it was just easier to remember:)I’m kidding…it was definitely a memorable day to celebrate, nonetheless.

I have to admit, this was one of the most anticipated weddings for me because I photographed Dee’s sister’s wedding last year and I got a chance to see everyone again.  It was kinda like deja vu arriving at the same house her sister got ready…same make-up artist, same wedding planner, and seeing her mom and her sweet 94 year old grandmother again.   It was like I just saw them yesterday.

Dee+Uly are a true example of opposite’s attract.  Uly is a total joker and Dee is the more serious one.  I first met Uly a few years back as a groomsman at one of his best friends weddings.  Those boys are really tight and have been groomsmen for each others’ weddings and I got to see them all again, so that was nice.  They haven’t changed a bit.  Those kids know how to party !  I met Dee last year at Ella’s, her sister, wedding and I just thought she was a total sweetheart.  One of my fondest memories of her was her emotional speech as Ella’s MOH.  There was not a dry eye in that reception last year.  This girl really knows how to speak from the heart.  She didn’t disappoint at her own wedding with another touching speech.

Here are some teasers from their wedding:

The most blinged out wedding shoes I’ve seen !

I had an amazing time, as usual.  I’m looking forward to their next family wedding ! I think all the family members who are reading, know who I’m talking about:)

Vendor notes: The reception was held at the Paramount Event Center.  The coordination of the day was executed by the lovely Leena and her girls from Let’s Party Consultants.   I can’t stress how important and valuable it is to have a wedding planner/coordinator.  She is absolutely amazing and I highly recommend her !  Make-up was done by the gorgeous Vanessa Funtera who I’ve worked with a gazillion times and always gives me what I want for my brides.  She had a pretty crazy schedule that day too and packed her stuff to catch her flight to Virginia to meet me there for Saturday’s wedding.

Awww…thanks for all your comments. You know I love what I do and I love my couples like they are family.

Christina: Congrats ! I didn’t even know you were engaged ! That’s awesome ! Whenever you’re ready, we’re going to plan your Destination Wedding, ok ! I am not sure if I can take a full week off in April b/c I’m practically busy every Saturday, but I will be there to photograph your wedding. Holla’ at your boy !

Ella: It was awesome seeing you again. I plan to go golf with your hubby quite a bit and then be over for some sweet bbq’ing :) I tried hard to at least touch base with everyone that I met last year, including the super cute twins and little Joshua (not so little anymore haha). I had an awesome time photographing your wedding and again at Dee’s wedding. It was awesome working alongside Michael too. We need him to make the leap to photography full-time. He’s welcome to come out with me anytime so I can mentor him. As for Tita and Naynay, we need to do some more family pics one of these days. You two are so precious :)

Joee…what can I say, you don’t disappoint. Words cannot express how grateful and HAPPY I am that Dee & Uly choose you to photograph their beautiful wedding day. If I could imagine portraits of Dee & Uly at their wedding, it would be exactly how you’ve captured them. You’re family now :-) Mom is sitting right next to me and is practically crying…you’re a visionary. I want to get married all over again just so you can take pictures again. If my mom gets married again, she wants a discount (wink wink. Can’t wait to see the rest of the photos! I didn’t know that your wife is expecting again… congrats and XOXO!!!
