Congratulations to Amrita and Joe on their beautiful wedding this past Friday. Their fusion wedding was held this past Friday at Le Jardin Conference and Event Centre.
Amrita, Joe and I connected thanks to Leena. Coincidently, I photographed the reception of Amrita’s cousin last year ! It’s such a small world. Last October, we met up downtown for a quick coffee at Starbucks. We talked about their plans and any concerns they had. The biggest concern was the timing of their engagement session, which we pulled off right before the wedding. My initial feeling coming out of the consultation was that they were, hands down, the most RELAXED couple I’ve met…especially Joe
And when they booked me, I was really excited…especially since the wedding was a fusion of cultures.
We had our engagement session about a week before their wedding date. The timing was a little tricky because of Amrita’s school schedule. She’s currently finishing up her PhD…at YORK University ! And if you live in Toronto, you’ll know the problems York U students have been having over the years. Joe works in the media industry as Visual Effects Artist. These two are such a cute couple and I had a great time with them over at Victoria College, where Amrita did her undergrad. As we walked through the grounds, she was pointing out certain parts of the University where she resided, had class…etc… I felt like I was on a tour of the campus or something haha But I’m glad we had their session somewhere where it was meaningful to them.

On the wedding day, we decided to take some quick relaxed portraits at the McMichael Art Gallery in Kleinburg before the ceremony.

The ceremony and reception took place at Le Jardin Conference and Event Centre. I haven’t been there in ages ! It’s 10x as big as it was the last time I was there. The indoor ceremony was set up really nice and I can’t believe everyone fit in the lobby ! The ceremony was short and sweet and was officiated by Bruce Munro.

It was really nice working with him. I like the fact that he didn’t tell Amrita and Joe to stand and pose for photos during the signing. It just kills the authenticity of the moment. I love this photo of Amrita looking at Joe as he signed his life away
.

The reception soon followed…

I love the timing of most Indian weddings because they get all the speeches out of the way first…

…along with the dancing (Demeena) and a song by Joe’s niece, Caity.

There was lots of dancing. Here’s Amrita’s cousins, Simi and Jasmine doing their routine. I saw Jasmine dance at Bonnie+Gareth’s wedding too and was blown away again. These two were so full of energy.

…and dancing…

…and more dancing. I’ve seen this crew at pretty much all the Indian weddings I’ve photographed. They are called Sonay Gabroo Punjab De and are just awesome !

Everyone partied until the early morning…

Possibly my favorite photo of the night…

It was an awesome party ! Great guests, great vendors, great food ! And most of all…a fantastic, sweet, and gorgeous couple ! Thank you again Amrita and Joe for inviting me to your special celebration.

A special thanks goes out to my support team: Kevin and Sandy. And, of course, Leena
I’ve worked with Leena for 2 weekends in a row ! And it has just been a slice of heaven ! Leena and her girls, Ara and Allison, were amazing, as usual !
