I get asked all the time about who or what type of imagery, websites, etc.. inspire me. I’ve mentioned many times in my posts that it is my couples that inspire me. Not a certain style…or trend…or another wedding photographers website. It is the individuals themselves. This is what makes every couples wedding unique.
Having said that, it never dawned on me that my imagery would be inspiring to others. But lately I’ve been getting lots of emails from strangers and friends thanking me for inspiring them. Wow ! I never strived to be held in that regard, so to hear that is quite surreal to me. Here’s an email I received from Roger, one of my awesome grooms in 2008.
I can’t believe he actually had time to drop me a note, let alone breathe, after being a new daddy haha I remember being a zombie for the first month ! It was a very nice note to introduce me to the newest member of the Chen clan. And it was great hear that my imagery has inspired to get him to pick up his camera and start photographing again. There isn’t a better time than now, with his newborn cutie hitting milestones every week day !
Thanks for your note Roger. When we were all partying in Jamaica , I remember seeing you with your camera in hand everywhere…more than me ! I knew it was the start of an addiction haha Your photos on Facebook are an awesome documentation of your boy’s progress. I can’t wait to see the little guy soon (and Jenny, of course). Next time, you can rest your camera and BE in the photo with the family.
To all photographers out there, amateur or pro, we should all aspire to inspire. It’s one of the many powerful gifts we can give to others.

On a side note, the shirt he is referring is a custom onesie I got for them from Simply Colors. So many of my former brides gave birth over the last few months. I bought them all customized shirts for their children. It’s like another baby boom ! Congratulations to all the new parents !
