Ok…finally catching up on the rest of the 2009 weddings after traveling for almost all of October. I’ve been sick with something this past week too, so that totally killed my productivity.
Cathy and Brian lovingly tied the knot and threw a HUGE party on September 19, 2009 – arguably, for me, the most popular date for inquiries this year. This was definitely a wedding I could not wait to document.
Brian and I have a little bit of history. He was one of my Traders at a big, not so fun-to-work-at, bank I worked at for only a few months (they bought out my old firm, so I was not there by choice). It wasn’t long before I left the bank, but we did keep in touch.
When I first met him, I saw a little bit of me in him. Super ambitious, hard working, and just a great kid. I remember him talking about his girlfriend, Cathy. Like every young chap I meet who’s seriously dating, I asked him when he’s going to pop the question. Let’s face it, we’re not getting any younger haha. He didn’t say when exactly, but I knew it was in the cards. When he started to tell me more about Cathy, I soon realized that we had more in common than I thought. Cathy, at the time, was in school to become a Radiation Therapist. Jeanette’s a Radiation Therapist also. I started to wonder if Brian was following in my footsteps or something
So when I heard that he proposed to Cathy, I was hoping they would ask me to document their wedding. I know…a lot of photographers would not even touch their friend’s wedding or a family wedding. In all honesty, I would rather photograph their wedding knowing I will document the wedding properly, rather than chance having someone else disappoint them. A lot of people tell me I’m crazy, but I really love what I do and to do it for Cathy and Brian…it was definitely an honor.
A few weeks before the wedding, we got together for their Engagement Session. It was so much fun observing all the awkwardness. haha We had a great time and spent our time roaming the downtown core of Toronto and there was no doubt the wedding was going to be a fantastic time !
My good friend and super start planner/coordinator, Jovie, of Jovial Events, was running the show this day. She was awesome as usual ! And if anyone wants to get her contact #, please drop me a line. Her site is in the works, so hopefully I’ll be able to plug it on here soon.

The Ceremony took place indoors at the Bellagio Boutique Event Venue:
We then headed downtown for some relaxed portraits with the gang. It was almost like deja vu all over again. As soon as we arrived, almost EVERYONE had to go to the bathroom ! So, the flow was kinda all over the place…way too funnh ! As some of my readers can remember, this was also the case with Sara+Eddie’s wedding earlier that month !
I owe a huge thanks for the MC and DJ team there for helping me set up my surprise Same Day Edit (SDE) for everyone. From the reaction I got, I think they liked it. But a huge thanks goes to Eugene for covering me while I busted my butt to pull this off for my awesome friends, Cathy and Brian. It was a lot of work, but we pulled it off.
Man that was a hard wedding to leave. But I had to get some Zzzz’s for my wedding the following day with Jacklyn and Kay.
Cathy and Brian, thanks for trusting me with your amazing wedding. I had a blast with everyone, but especially with you two. It was nice to see most of the old trading team there and also some very familiar faces and ,of course, new friends. You both looked beautiful (you too Brian) and I look forward to designing your amazing album ! Enjoy the highlight reel I put together for you (check your inbox!).
