Every Wedding Slideshow 2009

Lately, a lot of my blog readers (and friends) have been bugging me about putting up my Every Wedding Slideshow (EWS) for 2009.  I do blog every single wedding I photograph, so I encourage you to go through my blog and read up about the amazing couples I have been trusted to photograph.  As some of you know, I did one for 2008 and will be doing one every year for those who are too lazy to go through my blog haha..2009 was truly an epic year for me.

It took me literally 4 months to finish this because I had so much difficulty narrowing down my favorite 500 shots down to a more manageable 200-ish.  Also, selecting the songs for was a huge undertaking in itself.

This slideshow is dedicated to all my amazing couples, their families and their friends.  Thank you so much for having me be a part of your lives both now and in years to come. 2009 would not have been possible without you and without the kindness of everyone that was part of your special day.

I want to thank all my amazing industry friends, old and new, for sharing their time and talent in giving our couples the wedding they have always dreamed of.  On the business side of things, I want to thank Nathan Holritz and his team at Photographer’s Edit for helping out with the editing so I could get my life back.

I also have to thank my amazing support team and colleagues who helped out throughout the year in more ways than one: Kevin, Kevin, Eugene, Francis, Claudia, and Sandy.

Lastly, thank you to Jeanette and my kids, Ethan and Brandon, for welcoming me home to hugs and kisses after a long day of partying. Thank you so much for your love and support throughout the years.  I love you.

Looking forward to more major good times in 2010 !  Wedding season is going to kick off with a secret wedding in Tennessee and then off to Florence, Italy for the beautiful wedding of Carmen and Elton.

The JW Class of 2009

I have been a JW blog stalker for over a year now.

And after becoming engaged, it got worse…much, much worse. Or better?

Each week I would check in to appreciate the gorgeous images, and happy stories of the families being united through the process of marriage. With the ambitious goal of planning a wedding in less than six months, I had much research to do!

My eyes feasted on your beautifully structured gowns of luxurious fabrics, dapper tuxedos, ingeniously arranged flowers, delicious menu selections and colours schemes chosen with care. Unexpectedly, I was also drawn-in by your personal stories through-which your vision of family values, respect of traditions, dreams for the future were shared, while grounded with a true sense of humour.

The photos, as you know, could not be more spectacular.

As I watched the Every Wedding Slideshow for 2009, it occurred to me how the faces and the stories of perfect strangers could be so incredibly familiar to me. There was the bride whose up-do I wanted to copy, the other bride whose earrings made my eyes widen, the feather fascinators, the gowns, the flowers and beautiful cakes. The exotic destinations to which I dream to visit one day. The couple with the killer first dance. The couple who whisked away their closest friends and family -including the bride’s 92-year old grandmother- for a gorgeous tropical wedding. Weddings grounded in strong cultural tradition, and others who serve to weave two backgrounds together, to create one family path moving forward into the future.

So as I watched the EWS, it occurred to me that I’d like to say thank you. Thank you for the creative inspiration. Thank you for sharing your experiences.

I’d also like to wish you the very best of luck through this life adventure that we call “marriage”. The choice that we have all made. Because it’s something that we believe in. There are no guarantees, and it will not always be easy, but let’s all agree to do our best.

Thank you for this experience; it has been the most immense privilege.
