We’re here !

Konrad and I arrived safely last night here in Florence. It was quite a trip. I left Toronto at 10:30PM and Konrad left at 11:20PM. We were originally on the same flight, but Konrad had made a few changes to his itinerary (long story) and couldn’t get back on the the same flight. At least we arrived at the same time in Florence…in the pouring rain ! The flights were pretty good. Konrad scored the emergency seat with a good extra 6 ft of leg room. I managed to score an entire row (3) of seats in, what I was told, a full flight ! The guy in front of me who was sharing his row with a 9 mth old baby and the father was definitely trying to make a move to my row. Was it bad that I hoarded my seats ? I dunno, it was almost an 8 hour flight and I need my leg room haha

It was pouring rain last night. Konrad and I were running around Florence looking for a place to eat with the help of google maps on his iPhone. We ducked into any restaurant soak and wet. It was pretty uncomfortable sitting there in wet clothes. The place we hit was really tasty, so it was worth it.
Konrad was wiped ! Crashed around 11PM (5PM Toronto time !). I was in bed around 1:30AM local time and we both got adjusted to the time difference quite well, as a result.
Today, we were awaken by a lot of knocking pretty early in the morning. I had no idea who it could have been…housekeeping ? I was so discombobulated ! I opened the door to gladly see that Claudia arrived OK…just that her room wasn’t ready yet, so she came in and hung (no pun intended) out for a bit.
Claudia was pretty jet lagged, so she went for a nap while Konrad and I went out with Carmen and Elton and the best man, Nikki, for a bit around the town.

Bad, Carmen ! Photographing the photographer is a big no, no.
The original plan was to go up to the Duomo, with them, but the line wasn’t really moving so Konrad and I split with them as they had to catch a bus to check out a winery. We did get a chance to check out the inside of the amazing Cathedral.

You can’t come to Italy without having some gelato, of course.

Konrad and I walked around some bit to document some random scenes for their final presentation. Let me tell you, I haven’t seen a grown man lie down on the dirty ground so many times in my life just to get a certain shot.

We headed back soon after to wake up Claudia and grab some lunch nearby. I had the best risotto ever ! Gone in 60 seconds !

After lunch we went to scout the ceremony site – Villa San Michele ! This place was gorgeous ! We were greeted in the parking by some of my favorite cars
We proceeded to met up with Vittorio, Manager of the villa. He was gracious enough to take time out of his busy day to show us around and invited us to roam the facilities so we can talk some game plan on how we’re going to cover the beautiful wedding.

After the scouting, we headed back into town and was dropped off by the Villa’s courtesy shuttle. It was raining and we were dropped off as close to our hotel as possible, as the shuttle only does pick-ups and drop-offs at one place. We busted out our map and stared at it for a good 15 min before Claudia suggested we ask for directions. My response, “Claudia, we’re guys. We don’t ask for directions.” haha and within minutes, we found ourselves on the map haha.
We spent the rest of the day walking around exploring some interesting places for the photo session tomorrow and finally grabbed some FOOD ! Yum !
Looking forward to see what tomorrow brings.

Goodnight.
