09.20.2009 | Jacklyn + Kay’s Wedding

Congratulations to Jacklyn and Kay on their amazing wedding on September 20, 2009 – Part 2 of their wedding celebration.

Jacklyn was a referral from one of my friends, Freddie, who is a wonderful photographer in his own right.  For once, he wanted to attend a friends wedding as a guest, rather than being the principal photographer.  At the time we started talking about their wedding, Jacklyn and Kay were both in Hong Kong working.  Jacklyn was a corporate trainer and Kay worked in the Oil and Gas industry.  All I really knew about her was that her dad use to have a Porsche and her fiance was huge into cars and raced them.  I was immediately interested !  And of course, she was beautiful.

Part 1 of their wedding took place at the Four Seasons Resort Seychelles on June 22.  I wish so bad I was able to document their intimate wedding…by intimate, it was just the two of them.  But given my busy wedding schedule, it was just impossible for me to be able to fly down on time.  I had a wonderful wedding to photograph on the saturday already and it would have taken me 2 days to get there !  It’s ok though…I couldn’t wait till they came back to celebrate with their family and friends from Toronto.

In terms of aesthetics, this was probably my dream wedding.  Most of my friends know I’m a car nut, so when I told to “get ready for a car show at the wedding”, I was stoked.  Her dad use to race his Porsche back in the day, so right away I knew we’d get along just great.  I met up with her dad at his work  and he showed me a bunch of photos of him on the track.  It kind of inspired me again to follow my other passion — racing cars.  We’ll see how Jeanette feels about that haha

Kevin was my wing man for this beautiful wedding. He met up with Kay in the morning before meeting up with the girls and I. Kay was look dapper wearing a nice black suit with a matching bow tie.  He flew into Toronto not too long before the wedding and got ready at Kenneth’s penthouse that day.  At his disposal, a bright red Porsche 911 Twin Turbo.

I arrived at Jacklyn’s place and pulled up to the driveway…only to see a black Audi R8 staring at me. Wow, if I had more time, I would have done a whole session of the cars !

Jacklyn wore a beautiful, custom made gown and some really funky Alexander McQueen shoes.  She looked absolutely stunning in this dress (and also her evening dress, which you will see below).

One of Jacklyn’s good friends is from Japan and she took care of Jacklyn’s hair and make-up.

While the girls were still getting ready, I met Jacklyn’s cousin Joey and her sister’s boyfriend Herman.  They looked so familiar, but I couldn’t remember where I saw them before.  Then Jacklyn’s sister, Jasmine, walks down and I was killing myself trying to think of where I’ve seen these three from.  It wasn’t until I started editing the files that I remembered seeing them at Karina and Jeremy’s wedding last year !  Small world !

Jacklyn’s dad also brought me downstairs to show me his fish tank.  His prized possession — a $2,000+ (?) fish…I can’t remember the exact dollar figure or what it was called, but it was beautiful.

As we left for photos, they had the option of the Audi R8 supercar, or the Twin Turbo.  They took the Twin Turbo, of course !  The Audi is nice…but it just isn’t a Porsche:P  Sorry, I’m a little biased.

We headed to Unionville for some relaxed portraits and then headed off to Angus Glen for a few more before the ceremony began.

The ceremony was held during sunset at the beautiful Angus Glen Golf Club.   They had a nice short, sweet ceremony during sunset. A lot of Kay’s family couldn’t make it from Hong Kong, so they had another beautiful reception there when they headed back to HK.

This kid was awesome !  He was Kevin’s BFF that day following him around and wanting to take some photos of his mom and sister.  Kevin got this shot of him holding my massive camera.  He did an awesome job.  I’m thinking of putting him into the JW mentoring program soon.

I was really anxious for this wedding.  Not only was I excited to see Jacklyn and Kay exchange vows, but I was also excited to see a lot of her guests.  To keep a long story short, I knew A LOT of her friends from back in the day and when she told me that I’d know half the guests there, she was pretty bang on. I haven’t seen most of them in about 10 years ! So it was a wonderful surprise to see so many familiar faces.  Most of them married and with children.  Thank you Freddie for referring Jacklyn and Kay my way !

I had another great wedding working with Sueann, Angus Glen’s on-site coordinator.  She did a fantastic job in keeping things running in an orderly fashion.  And the food was fantastic, as usual !  Thanks again Sueann for all your help !

Jacklyn and Kay:  Thanks for letting Kevin and I follow you and everyone around that day.  You two looked HOTT !  I wish I was able to come out to Seychelles when you officially tied the knot, but at least I had the privilege to document your special day here in Toronto.  We both had an awesome time with everyone !  You two have exquisite tastes and have great style !  Thanks again for the eye candy (people and cars !) and I hope to see you soon….maybe in HK !
