Nice Card !

I went to the mailbox today to check the mail and to my surprise (not really, because they asked for my address so I knew they must be sending me something hehe), I received a really nice Thank You card from my awesome couple from New York, L+R.

The first time I met them was when they flew me down to NYC to for their engagement session. That flight to NYC was hell…delays, delays, delays…but I eventually got there ok. Flew in around 9:30am, flew out around 7pm. We spent the whole day together and shot in a handful of locations…Grand Central Station, Fifth Ave/Central Park, Times Square, and a few other places. It was a long day, but sooo worth it and we had a blast ! They are such a sweet couple.

Firstly, they choose a beautiful picture for the cover shot:)

Secondly, note the “…great friend…” part of the message. This is what I do. I build relationships with my couples and I know I’m good at it because of my love for people. Throw in my passion for documenting life and you have a killer combination:)For me, this is key. Great relationships turn into great friends and along come great referrals. They found me through a friend of a friend, so you can see the power of word of mouth.

I had to write about them because they were definitely one of my best couples of 2007 and they were the first couple to book me ‘online‘. I never thought of booking a couple without having a consultation but due to the long distance, we made it work via email/phone. Online booking is becoming more and more common nowadays for me.

My consultations are a great way for us to get to know each other better and to see if we are a good fit for each other. When I meet with a couple for the first time… I’m all about getting to know them, making them feel comfortable with me, and setting an example of how they will be treated if they book me.

My next wedding is in March in New York, and I’m hoping I get a chance to hook up with L+R when I’m down there.

[...] an awesome day !  Congratulations again to Gillian and Graeme !  What can I say….I owe Lorraine big time for introducing you two to me.   It’s too bad that she couldn’t make it to [...]
