Congratulations to Roselle and Stephen…my last wedding of 2009…in Canada. What an awesome way to end off my local weddings.
I’ve known Roselle and Stephen for almost 2 years now. I actually photographed Stephen’s brother wedding (Ray and Diane) back in 2008. That’s where I met these two. Actually, how’s this for the small human web we have:
- Diane and Ray found me through another bride of mine, Sophia
- Diane was one of Sophia’s bridesmaids
- Ray is Stephen’s brother
- Stephen and Roselle happen to be co-workers with one of my amazing second photographers, Eugene
- Eugene also works with Lisa and James, who were one of the sponsors for Roselle and Stephen’s wedding
- Roselle is Vanessa’s cousin
I’m sure there’s even more connections, but it really just shows you how small this world is.
Eugene and Kevin helped out with this wedding. Eugene was actually a guest that day, but he wanted to help cover the pre-reception as part of his gift to his wonderful friends. Kevin helped out all day and stayed through to finish off the rest of the evening. Big thanks to you two !
The day started off with a little drizzle. No problem. I have a pretty amazing record of dry weather, just when I need it. Eugene was taking care of the guys in the morning. I was just getting to the tail end of the make-up application done by the amazing Carla Naylor. Funny enough, I’ve worked with Carla on many occasions in the past, but I never got a chance to say HI because I usually arrive as she is leaving. Anyhow, we finally connected on Facebook and I look forward to working together with her again in the future. She did an awesome job, as usual. I highly recommend her !
I arrived at Roselle’s in the morning and everyone seemed pretty relaxed. I was greeted by her golden Labrador Retriever, Belle. Beautiful dog. We didn’t have too much time before we headed out to the church, but there were some good laughs from the girls. Roselle looked awesome.

How cute are the flower girls ?!

It was so funny watching the two cuties during wedding rehearsals haha and I’m glad everything worked out ! They nailed it !

What rain ?!?!? We had a blast doing the relaxed portraits and had awesome light in Unionville ! These two are pure jokers ! They are just two of the most fun people to be around and I’m looking forward to more good times ahead.

The reception was held at Le Parc, in Richmond Hill. Stephen proposed in Las Vegas, so it was only fitting that they had a Vegas theme. They even had a blackjack game for those who wanted to see them kiss that night.

But this could possibly be the highlight of the evening…Roselle’s mom ‘singing’ a Whitney Houston classic, “I Will Always Love You”. It brought everyone to tears…literally. Even a guest brought up the centerpiece to give as a bouquet haha It was one of the more memorable things I saw this year at a wedding. Most parents are very reserved and conservative, but Roselle’s mom seemed like the life of the party. It must run in the family because Vanessa’s family, specifically her dad, is the same…they sure know how to entertain !

Here’s Roselle’s brother, Mark, who flew in from Australia for his sisters wedding. He pulled off a shocking Kanye West during the couples speech ! Funny as hell !

Roselle and Stephen, Eugene keeps telling me he had to twist your arm to book me, but whatever the reason, I’m thrilled you both asked to have me document your wedding. I know it meant a lot to Eugene to contribute to capturing the story of your day and I’m glad he was able to be part of it all. Your families and friends are absolutely wonderful and it was fantastic to see so many familiar faces. I left your wedding with a huge smile on my face…in the perfect mood to catch my flight to Greece the next morning to photograph my last wedding of the year.
It was great seeing you guys before the holidays and I hope you two had as much fun as the team did. I wish you two lots of love and laughter in your new future together.
Your friend,
-Joee
