You may remember seeing my previous post on Sara and Eddie. A few weeks ago, they exchanged vows in a beautiful ceremony overlooking Lake Ontario.
Thank you again to Stephanie and Andrew for referring Sara and Eddie my way. It was such a fun and beautiful day !
I remember talking to them during their engagement session about timing for the day. At the time, it didn’t seem like they were heading towards many traditional Chinese wedding customs. To Eddie’s surprise, the girls decided to put him through some traditional ‘pick-up the bride’ games. I can tell you that Eddie was the least prepared groom I’ve seen in all my years of photographing weddings. He had no money to bribe the bridesmaids, no red envelopes, no cheque-book…nothing. And sorry, credit cards are not accepted. haha Poor Eddie.
The guys had to deal with some really tough girlfriends of Sara: Sandra, Carol and Sheron. Sandra was the toughest. Because the guys were late to pick Sara up, she punished them by keeping them outside ringing the doorbell for about 15-20 minutes before even acknowledging their presence. I think most of Sara’s family were ready to let Eddie in to pick up Sara. I remember them talking Cantonese and Sandra makes a comment like, “I’m from Hong Kong…I’ll show you how we play these games there. You guys are so weak and shouldn’t give up on Sara so easily…”. Something to that effect. I couldn’t stop laughing.

After the games and tea ceremony, it was time to get ready to head downtown for their ceremony. We got ready in Eddie’s mom’s room. Here’s a photo of her as she was helping the girls out. Isn’t she so pretty ? Good ol’ Asian genes !

On the way, we stopped off for some relaxed portraits. Coordinating this was a little tricky. Everyone needed to take a pee break at one point or another, so they all took turns for their photos. But we made it work and headed back in time for their lakeside ceremony at the beautiful Palais Royale.

When I arrived at the venue, I saw the wonderful Jacqueline. Last time I saw her was at Audrey and Ken’s wedding and it was nice to see and work with her again. She’s been a busy bee this year and it was nice to hear she was able to take some time off to head to Chicago for a mini vacation. I also got to see Cindy Johnson of Platinum Events Group. This was our first wedding together this year. It was definitely long overdue ! She’s got a lot of exciting news coming down the pipeline, so stay glued to her blog ! I also got to meet the beautiful Stephanie, who was assisting Cindy that day.

The ceremony was short and sweet. I nearly got pooped on by one of the geese flying over us that dropped bombs on the runner and behind the guests. Everytime I see birds flying around me, I get flashbacks of the wedding where I got hit in the back of the head by a pigeon.
They threw a fantastic party in the evening. There was no shortage of embarrassing stories shared about the bride and groom, I’ll tell you that.

I also ran into Justin, Wesley, and Dan…some old friends from university. Man, they all look the same…just with more money now, you know, being doctors and dentists haha It was great seeing them again after about a decade or so. It’s great to see and hear they are doing well.
I’ll end the post with an image that fulfilled my goal. My goal was not only to capture the love and the emotions of the day…but also to get a photo of Eddie smiling. My coverage was not complete without it. And here is one of my favorites of Eddie. I was going to post it earlier up top, but I thought I’d save it till the end. There was no better time to smile than at this moment:

I think that was the biggest smile of his life ! As it should…
Another big thank you to Eugene and Francis for helping out that day.
Congratulations again to Sara and Eddie ! Enjoy your time in Italy and France ! Looking forward to seeing you when you get back. I know you’ve been checking the blog any chance you get access to internet, so now you can stop checking and enjoy the rest of your trip !
