Greetings everyone from the capital of Canada — Ottawa ! We left Montreal late yesterday for Ottawa so I could prepare for this weddings amazing wedding at the National Art Gallery of Canada. While I was here, I thought I’d drop Holly and Matt a line to see if they were available to meet for a drink.
After a few email exchanges around midnight, we decided an early morning get together would work. I was so excited to meet them, finally !
The family and I had breakfast at Le Moulin de Provence, which has the best croissants I’ve ever tasted ! Thanks Holly for this recommendation. As we arrived there, I just see Obama plastered everywhere ! He actually visted the bakery during his visit to Canada recently. They even named a cookie after him…OBAMA COOKIES ! Too funny.
After breakfast, Jeanette took Brandon back to the hotel for his nap. Then Holly texted me to tell me she was at the hotel so we proceeded to go look for her. As we neared the hotel lobby, I see, as Matt described, a beautiful fairy with milk-like coloured skin and the dreamiest blue eyes I had ever seen. Our first meet was almost like something out of a movie. The wind was blowing just at the right time as she turned around and spotted Ethan and I…her golden locks blowing in the wind. And there she was…the one and only, Holly Roberta.
It was really surreal meeting her. I felt like we had years, and years to catch up on. We sat down for some morning tea and just talked about life, the wedding, and of course her mom. Today is Holly’s mom’s last day of radiation treatment. This is awesome news and definitely a cause for celebration. Congratulations to her !!! Instead of staying in near isolation at home in Grimsby, like she has for the last 6 mths, Holly’s mom is going to hop in the car with Holly’s dad to make the trek up to spend time with her daughter and future son-in-law. That’s just great ! I was hoping to meet her parents tomorrow morning before the wedding, but it may have to wait until the wedding day due to my tight schedule. We’ll see.
As we sat in the tea shop yapping away, I got a glimpse of her parenting skills as she tried her best to keep Ethan entertained. You know you’re creative when you start ripping out pages of a newspaper and start doing some origami. Holly makes a killer swan !

What can I say about Holly. She’s is definitely one of the most sincere and sweetest brides I’ve ever had. Every time we talked about this dream wedding of hers, I was reminded me how thankful she was for everything. Her experience with all the providers has been nothing short of exceptional and I want to thank them all again for taking care of her and Matt. I’m looking forward to spending more time with everyone very soon.
Holly, thanks for making the trek to meet me during rush hour. Too bad Matt couldn’t make it as I’m sure he’s a riot. Looking forward to meeting this guy…in all his glory, I’m sure haha
Anyways, what a great way to start my day…off to lunch I go. Before I do, I want to say a quick HELLO to the girls at Holly’s work ! I’m hoping to see some, if not all, of you at the wedding
