It’s someone’s birthday today ! Yup, you’ve seen her name get tossed around on the blog quite a bit this year. It’s Heidi’s 20-something birthday !
You see, Heidi and I go way back. I actually photographed her wedding to Gary last year.

We had a ton of fun and it was definitely one of the best connections I’ve made with my couple. You see, our relationship didn’t stop after the wedding. We obviously hit it off and have stayed close ever since. Gary’s actually my accountant now. And Heidi…well she had some dreams of her own. We spent a great deal of time talking about her ambitions and next thing you know, she wanted to give wedding photography a try.
Low and behold, she enrolled in my mentoring program (I have some really stringent requirements
) and I’ve shared everything I know with her. She quit her miserable job (YAY !) and decided to eat, sleep and live in the photography discipline. She really accelerated and in the last 4 months she’s been out with the team, she has definitely proven herself to be ready to photograph her own weddings.
Late this summer, I put her into the second photographer rotation and she has been doing amazing. My couples rave about her and absolutely love the experience she provides. By experience, I’m not talking about # of weddings she’s photographed. If ýou’re a faithful reader, you know what kind of experience I’m talking about.
I’m going to be selfish to say that I hope she doesn’t book that much next year so she can come out with me more often next year. But the reality is, she’s ready to go and I’m proud of all her bookings already for 2010 and 2011, including one in Paris next year ! She’s going to rock all her weddings !
If you can’t afford me, you cannot afford not to have Heidi photograph your wedding. I trust her wholeheartedly with documenting anyone’s wedding, including my own if I were to marry Jeanette again ! She is awesome to have around and a load of fun.
Anyways, Heidi, you already know this but I just wanted to let you know that I am so proud of how fast you’ve come along in such a short period of time. You’ve definitely found your calling. You are born to be around people and photographing life’s most precious events. I’m honored to have had you as a mentee but more importantly as a fantastic and trustworthy friend. Keep doing what you are doing because you have the formula for success. And you have two awesome guys, in Gary and myself, supporting you every step of the way.
I hope I don’t embarrass you with the pic below but I just had to put your Super Mario pic up haha Don’t worry, Kevin has his coming too hehe

Ya, she shoots Nikon. Oh well…she will convert eventually if she knows what’s best for her![]()
Happy Birthday Heidi !!!
