Home, Sweet, Home !

I am finally back in Toronto ! What a week it has been. Here’s a summary of the week:

Monday: Flight cancelled…spent 8 hrs at Pearson doing nothing but arguing with US Airways…missed the ship…fought to get to Nassau and get put up at a nice resort…done!…landed in Nassau, finally !
Tuesday: Great day…spent the day eating, hit the beautiful beach, ate more, napped, and ate again:)
Wednesday: Left the resort to catch the ship…checked in…ate breakfast…left the ship and headed to Atlantis…explored the amazing resort…took loads of images of the family…back to the ship for some fine dining.
Thursday: Day at Sea…rained…ate…took Ethan swimming in the pool and ate some more.
Friday: Woke up for an early departure off the ship…drove to Orlando International…delays!…lined up for hours to get rescheduled onto another flight…arrrgggh !!! Not having much luck this week.

3 of 5 happy days isn’t bad I suppose, but this is not what I would call a vacation ! I need another one soon…but when we were happy, we had a good time down there. Here are some more pictures of our wild adventure:

We were put up at the Wyndham Resort in Nassau. Our room ran about $350/night, but I didn’t sweat it. It was all taken care of by US Airways:)It was a pretty nice resort. People were friendly. The casino was extremely friendly to me:)My game is Craps and I almost cleaned them out:)Not really, but at the rate I was winning in the 1/2 hours I was playing, I was on track for some pretty serious coin. But, as a former Trader, I’m extremely familiar about risk management and decided to take my money and run. That’s what you learn from gambling the biggest casino in the world — the stock market.

I love this sequence of shots…At first, I though Ethan wasn’t really liking the whole sand idea…

But then once mommy picked him up, he was down for the count. He was just a little tired from all the delays and waiting around at the airport.

I claimed this part of the beach…it was totally secluded and I got some quiet time to myself. It wasn’t the cleanest part. Hence, my shoes and socks lol

Ethan woke up and was up to his usually self…

Probably my favorite shot this week:

Welcome to Atlantis ! This place was absolutely amazing. The sheer mass of the resort and the fish tanks within the buildings were just crazy ! That little bridge in between the two Royal Towers is actually a suite and apparently $25,000 a night !  Anyways, I think everyone in the world needs to check this place out at least once in their lifetime.  I would love to go back when Ethan is older and actually stay at this resort.

Here are some shots inside the various underground aquariums:

The Sovereign of the Seas. This was by far the smallest ship I’ve been on. The food was good as usual…staff was not as friendly as the other ships from Royal Carribean. Maybe I felt this way because I was on the ship for only a day or so. But I did talk to a bunch of the staff and they also weren’t too happy with working there, so that might explain it.

This is why I love cruises…the food ! Unlimited food so I was able to order as many portions as I wanted…

They also had a Fisher-Price Playgroup. It’s an interactive play session for 6-36 mth olds. Being a parent, I really appreciated that they tried to accommodate the young ones. I think it’s fantastic to have a slotted time during the day to let the younger children get together and interact. It was pretty much the Ethan Show that morning, but then a few more kids came later on. At the end of the session, the parents all received a nice music CD of ‘cruise’ songs.

When I look back at these pictures, the trip was pretty good despite all the travel pains we had to go through. However, I will never fly US Airways again. I found the agents rude and ignorant and just gave us the runaround all day long. Everyone just tries to pass the buck to avoid having to call the manager, but that’s who you really need to talk to. If I could, I would boycott all US airlines but I can’t avoid it with these places I need to get to for my destination weddings ! Air Canada really isn’t that bad when I think about it.

Anyways, my next adventure is being Mr. Mom, as Jeanette heads back to work on Monday after spending the last year at home with us on maternity leave…
