Going Organic – Do you know what you’re eating ?

Jeanette and I have been thinking of going organic for the longest time.  After watching the documentary, FOOD INC., we really moved forward to ensure we are all eating as healthy as we can afford.

We met up with a consultant recently to discuss the costs of moving to organic meats.  Especially chicken..the most common meat we consume.  Ask yourself, when you were a kid, do you remember what color the skin on your chicken was ?  It was most likely yellow.  now I don’t even see yellow skin chicken anywhere unless you are going to a butcher shop that sells grain-fed chicken.  Thanks to our wonderful society, we’ve been brainwashed to believe that WHITE means that it is cleaner.  How do they get it so white then ? Bleach.  Next time you cook a chicken breast, if you see some white jelly-ish type of stuff coming out of your chicken breast, it’s almost guaranteed to be a combination of bleach, growth hormones, and sodium.

For most people, like us, money is a huge factor in deciding whether or not to change to an organic lifestyle.  The way I see it is that I’m spending top dollar right now to eat safer so we can sustain a healthy lifestyle and live better.  I could continue eating the way we do and save a good amount of money, but that money saved will be used for drugs to keep me alive lol

There are going to be lots of sacrifices to be made with this personal decision.  But when it all comes down to it, we just want to ensure they are eating quality meat like we did when we grew up.

You can watch the trailer for Food Inc. below.  I highly recommend everyone watch it.
